Stephen Kavanagh, QPM
Stephen Kavanagh, has been appointed to the role of Executive Director of Police Services at Interpol.
Mr Kavanagh, who is the former Chief Constable of Essex Police, has been selected for the position and will support the organisation’s work in global law enforcement.
He will have the responsibility of ensuring Interpol provides quality, up-to-date specialised knowledge, operational and investigative support to its member countries in high profile crime areas.
Interpol is an inter-governmental organisation that enables police forces from 194 countries around the world to share information and work together to prevent global crime such as terrorism and cybercrime, and battle against organised criminal networks.
Mr Kavanagh, who grew up in Chelmsford and attended the Boswells School and Chelmsford College, was awarded an honorary doctorate by ARU at a graduation ceremony in October 2019.
He was awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal for distinguished service in 2018, shortly before retiring from the police.
